The tour

Wendt to the Blue Mountains

The World Heritage listed Blue Mountains west of Sydney, is a destination famous for its breathtaking panoramic views, historic towns and villages and crisp, clean, mountain air.

Here you follow in the footsteps of famed explorers William Lawson, Gregory Blaxland and William Charles Wentworth who pioneered this gateway across the Great Dividing Range to new rich country and farmlands in 1813.

Your day begins with the drive west across the ANZAC bridge then onto Victoria Road, passing Homebush Bay site of the Summer 2000 Olympic Games. On our return to Sydney we stop at Homebush Bay to show you its attractions. Enjoy your first stop to view and interact with Australian Wildlife and birds at 'Featherdale Wildlife Park'. A must see for all ages! Complimentary morning tea provided by Wendt On Tours.

Continuing our journey west on the M4 freeway we cross the Nepean river at Penrith to join the Great Western Highway for our ascent up the mountain to Katoomba. Our scenic drive takes us through quaint and historic village towns including Blaxland, Lawson, Wentworth Falls and Leura.

View the Three Sisters at Echo Point, overlooking the breathtaking Jamison Valley. A gourmet lunch is a highlight of the day at a prestigious mountain restaurant, where you have a choice of any two courses from an a la carte menu.

Still in the mountains, we visit Scenic World to ride the World’s Steepest Railway, Scenic Skyway or access and walk through the temperate rainforest of the Jamison Valley via the Flyway cable car. Before we travel back down the mountain and return to Sydney, we continue our drive west to view other spectacular lookout points at the Megalong Valley, adjacent to the Jamison Valley.

Conclude the tour by visiting Blackheath, home to the annual Rhododendron Festival in November.
